The Smurfs is a 2009 American 3D computer-animated sports comedy film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and released on June 15, 2009, by Walt Disney Pictures and Touchstone Pictures. It is the fourth installment in the long-running The Smurfs franchise, which was first released in France in 1981 as Les Moussimouks. This film is about four friends named Le Gros, le Petit, l’Alteepeu, et La Chouette who are smurfed (eaters of smurf food), meaning that they live their life as normal people eating regular meals but wear matching smurf clothes for day out of every week where they sit around a smurf stove and eat smurf food. These are the days known as “Smurfing”. The other three friends are named Papa Noël, Mama Noel, and little Le Château because in their village there’s just one big smurf family. But one day when Papa Noël goes to visit his brother up north he leaves his younger sister Le Château with her parents so they won’t keep her from going to school on Monday. When Le Château finds out that Monday is smurf cooking day she gets very excited knowing that all the villagers will be cooking smurfs together instead of trees.
